PRIVATE LESSONS

Whether you grabbed one of my courses, downloaded a tab, or have just been following along — there's a good chance you've got questions that a one-size-fits-all lesson plan can't really address. That's exactly where a private lesson comes in.

We can work on whatever's most useful to you right now. Technique, theory, improvisation, composing, or just figuring out a solid practice routine. Every lesson is built around your goals, your schedule, and where you actually are on the instrument. Most lessons come with PDFs and a backing track depending on what we cover.

I've been teaching for over 30 years — MSU, National Guitar Workshop, a monthly column for Premier Guitar, and decades of private teaching alongside performing with folks like Emmylou Harris, James Burton, Amos Lee and Steve Earle. I mention that not to impress you, but so you know you're getting real, experience-backed instruction tailored specifically to you.

If you've ever felt self-conscious asking questions in a group setting, or like the material you're working through wasn't quite built for your situation — this is the alternative.

TESTIMONIALS

"I've taken lessons from Jason for a few years now. Really can't say enough great things about him. He's not only a guitar teacher, but a music teacher.  If you want better mastery of the guitar so you can move from being able to 'play the guitar' to being a guitar player, you can't find a better person to guide you." -Randy

“I’ve been taking online guitar lessons for over two years from various instructors but there’s something different about how Jason teaches. I’ve learned more in two lessons from him than all the others combined.  Thank you for all your help!” - Leo

"Jason is amazingly knowledgeable about a vast spectrum of music. He is able to articulate things that I hear and reflect his knowledge back to me in ways that I can understand what I am hearing—but more crucially, in ways that make me more curious. That is the mark of a great teacher." - Daniel

HERE ARE THE DETAILS

I teach one hour sessions over Zoom. Depending on the topic we cover, I'll put together PDFs and a backing track for you to keep and practice with after the lesson.

Let me know your goal for the lesson at least a few days before so I can prepare for you.

To get you on the schedule I just ask for payment upfront — that's how I confirm and hold your spot. I accept Venmo and Zelle, or PayPal if you're outside the US.

One thing to be aware of: I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to reschedule just let me know with at least 24 hours notice and we'll find another time that works.
